It's not just a case of knife, fork and napkin!

Whether your wedding day is a small intimate meal or a large lavish affair, deciding on the design, colour and theme of your wedding day can often be a daunting task. A great starting point is to think about things that mean a lot to you and also things that best reflect your personality.

For example, if you were a couple that liked music, you could take that idea and develop it into different ways to help make your day unique and personal.

At Plan me Perfect we like to understand our clients and their personalities to make sure this comes across when suggesting ideas for the theme or colours. We can take a single element and turn it into an elegant theme which continues throughout your day and also creates interest for your guests.

Here are some great suggestions for a music themed wedding:

Cowboys and Indians childrens party

It seems Plan me Perfect have gone wedding crazy over the last year so we think it is time to blog about one of our parties and start uploading some photos from our recent events.

One event that we had the pleasure of working on this summer was a children's party for a little girl who was celebrating her 3rd birthday. The theme was Cowboys and Indians so Plan me Perfect got straight to work to come up with fun ideas to keep the children entertained.

With an empty field to hold the event this was the perfect venue for our summer party. With donkey rides, crafts and games such as digging for gold, horseshoe throwing, faces in the stocks, pass the parcel and a relay race over hey barrels the kids were well entertained throughout the day.

Dinner consisted of a fine Texan spread including chips, beans and sausages followed by cakes and cactus juice which Plan me Perfect created labels for. A fine feast for any cowboy and Indian!

A hidden gem for a country wedding

Plan me Perfect has great pleasure of recommending this beautiful country property in the heart of the Essex countryside. Great Prestons is based in the village of Stock in Essex which is well known for it's country walks, beautiful churches and excellent restaurants. Great Prestons currently hires out the house and grounds for marquee weddings and can sit up to 150 guests by the side of the house and up to 300 guests in the larger field. The house is a beautiful Grade 2 listed Queen Anne farmhouse of which sleeps 8 guests and can be hired for up to 3 days.

Please see below some images and a link to a recent Great Prestons wedding:

The venue has the following facilities available to their guests:

  • On-site catering
  • Car parking
  • Overnight accommodation
  • Grass tennis court
  • Croquet lawn
  • Stables and horses
  • Up to 150 seated in the area next to the house
  • Large enclosed area of land in the field for bigger marquees
The house has been rented from July 27th until 10 August 2012 but is available for the rest of the year.

In 2013 the grounds will still be available to hire but the house will be occupied. There is a local hotel which is just a 5 minute drive away and many other nearby hotels for you and your guests.

This really is a beautiful, secluded property and perfect for a relaxed country wedding.

Sweet Tooth?

Plan Me Perfect are always trying to think of new and creative ideas for our events. As we all know there seems to be a sudden cupcake boom! I think we can all say we know one or two friends that now make delicious cupcakes or the just as scrummy giant cupcakes. So this got me thinking, what else is out there, what will be the next cupcake boom?

Sticking to the cake/dessert theme, we have noticed that cake pops have become quite popular. Cake pops are great for sweet tables, baby showers, and parties and even to be served as an evening treat. All can be made in a range of colours and flavours. Some images below are from my good friends at Pinkface and Dottie about cupcakes.

We were recently talking about some new ideas and discovered a great way to keep the children (and adults) entertained is by introducing marshmallow pops. One idea would be to perhaps have a staff member on hand to make the pops in front of your guests enabling each guest to pick their own toppings, or to just simply serve them as a fun evening treat. Certainly something different and who can resist a sugary treat.

Another idea is to have a dessert that is also a favour? So instead of cutting the cake and serving it to your guests, they are waiting on the table, beautifully wrapped and waiting for your guests. These also work well as a keepsake to remember your day. Plan Me Perfect will personalise your jars to your wedding colours and design a sticker that sits on top with your new married name, date and venue. A perfect decoration, favour and treat.

Some great ideas that Plan Me Perfect hope to introduce soon. Also, keep your eyes peeled for some sweet treats that Dottie about cupcakes is currently working on for one of our September weddings.
